Erin Syslo - Executive Director

I was born and raised right here in Goshen.  I was raised with a family of early childhood educators and have followed their path.  I attended Purdue where I received my Bachelor's degree in Early Intervention and stayed around the Lafayette area where I worked in the field of early childhood education.  During that time I went back to school and earned a Master's degree in Early Childhood Education from Ball State University. In 2014 our family decided to move back to Goshen. I came to Walnut Hill and have been enjoying it ever since.  My two children also Walnut Hill and greatly enjoy it.  I love working with young children and their families.  Each day with them brings great joy, even through the most difficult days.  I enjoy spending time with my family and walking our dogs.

Jamie Pankoke - Family Services Coordinator

I am originally from Harvard, Illinois.  I attended Millikin University in Decatur, Illinois where I graduated in 1996 with a bachelor's degree in science and a major in Elementary Education.  I have been in the teaching field for about 9 years. I taught afternoon Kindergarten in Illinois and taught a school age class at a local child care facility for 1 1/2 years.  Then my husband and I moved to Elkhart when he switched jobs, and I started teaching a three year old class in Granger.  From there I went on to be the Kindergarten teacher at the YWCA in Elkhart.  After teaching 2 1/2 years I had my first child and became a stay at home mom.  I am now the mother of three lovely children; Hope, Rose and Adam.  Hope is 13, Rose is 12 and Adam is 10.  When Adam started Kindergarten I went back to teaching with Head Start where I taught 3 1/2 - 5 year olds.  In June of 2013 I decided to join Walnut Hill as the Lead Teacher in the Middler Room.  In 2015 I moved into the Family Services Coordinator position.  I love working with children and watching them learn and grow and am blessed to have a  position in a wonderful program with a wonderful staff.

This is my 11th school year at Walnut Hill.  I graduated from Indiana University with a degree in Early Childhood Education.  I did my student teaching here at Walnut Hill in the Middlers room.  I was then hired as the Lead Teacher in Middlers where I taught for the next 5 years before moving to the Beginners.  The younger the better :).  I have been married for 10 years and have two children.  Kaden is 9 years old and Hailey is 5.  I am excited for the future of Walnut Hill and can't wait to see what it holds.

Amanda Torres - Lead Teacher in Dragonfly Classroom (3- 5 year olds)

Hi! My name is Amanda Yoder.  I’m currently in my first year as a teacher at Walnut Hill. I graduated from Bethel College in May of 2014 with a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education. While in college I worked at the on campus preschool for three years, and was also a tutor for local elementary schools. In my spare time I enjoy being able to hang out with my family and friends. I can also be frequently found watching a good movie while eating popcorn or grabbing Starbucks to go. I enjoy working with children and feel blessed to have such a rewarding career.
